Stephanie is an emerging ceramic artist based in Brisbane/Meanjin, Australia.
She has a Bachelor of Arts (Visual Arts) from the Queensland University of Technology. Post-university distractions have yielded many wonderful things – work, travel, family – but have resulted in little tangible gains in her art practice. Stephanie is working to remediate this as she enters her crone era.
Stephanie’s work explores society’s ambivalent relationship with the natural world, in particular, our compulsion to domesticate nature as a means to ease the emotional discomfort nature can provoke. The natural world is both physically essential and a psychological muse.
In the last few years, she has participated in several group exhibitions in Brisbane. A porcelain work, Flora (2023), was acquired by the Museum of Brisbane from the Commune community display, which was part of the Clay: Collected Ceramics exhibition.
As an extension to her art practice, she regularly contributes to the Ceramic Arts Queensland Quarterly Bulletin magazine and has contributed to The Journal of Australian Ceramics and Ceramics Now magazine.
